Rams catch a break with James Conner unlikely to play Sunday

James Conner missed Week 9 with a shoulder injury, and according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he’ll be out this week against the Rams, too. Dulac reported Thursday that Conner is not expected to play on Sunday when the Steelers and Rams square off in Pittsburgh.

Conner leads the team in rushing with 380 yards and four touchdowns, and also ranks third in receiving with 236 yards. He’s put up those numbers despite missing one game, too.

Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds filled in for Conner last week against the Colts, with Edmunds leading the way (73 yards on 12 carries). However, Edmunds has a rib injury and missed practice on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh is extremely thin at running back right now and Conner’s absence only makes things worse for the offense.
