Week 1 of the 2019 season has finally arrived and the Los Angeles Rams are ready to begin their march back to the Super Bowl. They open the season on the road, having to travel to the East Coast where they’ll take on the Carolina Panthers.
It’s by no means an easy start to the season, given the travel required and the fact that it’s a dreaded 1 p.m. ET kickoff against a good team like the Panthers. But on paper, the Rams look like the better squad on both offense and defense, boasting Pro Bowlers at several positions and an all-world pass rusher in Aaron Donald.
Despite being on the road, the Rams are still the favorites against Carolina in the season opener. According to PlayMGM, Los Angeles is favored by three points over the Panthers on Sunday.
With home teams typically getting an automatic three-point cushion by oddsmakers, this means the Rams would be favored by six points over the Panthers on a neutral field.
It’s tied for the third-smallest spread of Week 1, while only two other games have higher over/under lines. No matter which team the Rams are playing, the over/under is bound to be among the highest each week, just based on their offense alone.
