Rams are 1.5-point favorites vs. Broncos in battle of backups

Beating the Los Angeles Rams in the preseason and regular season are two totally different things. Knocking them off between Weeks 1 and 17 is as difficult a task as any in the NFL today, but in the preseason, they’re vulnerable.

That’s simply because Sean McVay takes a cautious approach to the preseason, resting almost all of his starters for the four exhibition games. That’s led to two losses in the first two preseason games, but the Rams are actually favored to win this week.

With both Los Angeles and Denver resting their starters on Saturday night, the Rams are the home favorites. According to USA TODAY odds, Los Angeles is favored by 1.5 points over the Broncos.

The over/under line for the game is 35 points, the lowest of the remaining preseason games this week.

Blake Bortles will most likely get the start for the Rams, while Kevin Hogan is the expected starter for Denver. It’s not a marquee matchup, per se, but there’s still plenty to be excited about in Los Angeles.

There are position battles to be settled, bubble players trying to make the team and exciting rookies to watch.

Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
