Rams announce coaching hires, including Wade Phillips’ son

Changes to the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff have been reported several times in the past few weeks, but none of them were officially announced by the team.

On Monday ahead of the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, the Rams made three hires official.

The team has hired Wade Phillips’ son Wes as their new tight ends coach, replacing Shane Waldron. Waldron is reportedly taking over as the quarterbacks coach, while also maintaining his role as the passing game coordinator.

Eric Henderson is coming aboard as the defensive line coach after being the Chargers’ assistant D-line coach in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, Zac Robinson is joining the Rams as their assistant quarterbacks coach. He previously spent time as a senior analyst at Pro Football Focus and is a former NFL quarterback getting drafted in the seventh round by the Patriots in 2010.

Sean McVay is the youngest coach in the NFL and his staff is young, as well. Henderson is just 36 years old, while Robinson is only 32 years old, himself – one year younger than McVay.
