Rams and Jalen Ramsey agree to record 5-year, $105M extension

There was no way the Los Angeles Rams were going to trade two first-round picks for Jalen Ramsey without signing him to a long-term extension. And on Wednesday, they finally made that happen.

The Rams and Ramsey have agreed to terms on a five-year extension worth $105 million, keeping him in L.A. for the foreseeable future. It was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN and confirmed by the Rams on Twitter.

Ramsey made it clear in Jacksonville that he wanted to be paid handsomely and although the Jaguars were reluctant to do that, the Rams clearly were not. Les Snead and Sean McVay identified a player who plays a premium position at a high level and now have him for the long haul.

After being acquired by the Rams, Ramsey said he wants to prove to the team that he’s the “best corner in the whole NFL for years and years to come.” He’ll get the chance to do that, pairing alongside fellow defensive cornerstone Aaron Donald.

In nine games with the Rams last season, Ramsey had one interception, four passes defensed and 33 total tackles with one forced fumble. He allowed 29 catches on 43 targets (67.4%), but didn’t allow a single touchdown while with the Rams.
