Rams add offensive tackle help in early 2022 mock draft

The Los Angeles Rams have gotten excellent value from Andrew Whitworth, who they signed in 2017 when he was 35 years old. He’s exceeded expectations, remaining one of the best left tackles in football.

But he’s going to retire at some point, potentially as soon as next offseason. And though the Rams do have a couple of players who could replace him at the ever-important left tackle spot, it wouldn’t hurt to have another option or two.

In Luke Easterling’s newest mock draft for Draft Wire, he has the Rams taking Oklahoma left tackle Wanya Morris in the second round at No. 61 overall.

Morris spent two seasons at the University of Tennessee before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2021 season. He should step in right away as the starting left tackle, carrying good pro potential into this season.

He played nine games for the Volunteers last season, lining up at both left and right tackle, as well as a blocking tight end in jumbo packages. He was excellent in 2019 as a freshman, earning SEC All-Freshman honors at left tackle.

He’ll now be tasked with protecting Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler, who’s the Heisman Trophy favorite. A strong 2021 season could push Morris into the first round.
