Ram-raiders use tractor in attempt to pull ATM from wall outside Coop store in Northumberland

Suspects fled the scene after they attempted to pull an ATM from the wall of a shop in Northumberland.

An alarm at a Co-Op store in Ratcliffe Road in Haydon Bridge was activated at around 4.50am on Thursday morning.

Shortly after, Northumbria Police received calls from members of the public who reported that suspects were attempting to pull an ATM from the wall of the shop using a tractor.

The suspects then made off leaving the tractor at the scene after being unsuccessful with their attempt.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 4.50am today (Thursday) an alarm was activated at the Co-Op store on Ratcliffe Road in Haydon Bridge.

“A number of calls have followed from members of the public reporting a tractor attempting to pull the ATM from the wall.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing (Newcastle Chronicle)

“The suspects have made off leaving a tractor, believed to be stolen, at the scene after being unsuccessful in their attempt.

“Enquires are on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 and quoting reference NP-20211014-0103.”
