Rampaging yobs terrorise residents in late night brick attack

Thugs terrorised residents when they tossed bricks through windows of their homes.

The yobs went on the rampage through the East Kilbride community on Monday night leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

One woman and her husband were relaxing at home when they heard an "almighty bang" the East Kilbride News reports.

And she said it's not the first time they've been targeted by louts.

She explained: "We both absolutely jumped out our skin - we were just sitting there and the next minute there was a really loud smash.

"This is the second time we have had windows smashed and we were broken in to last year.

"It's been getting worse and we now have decided to move. We can't take any more.

"We seem to be a thoroughfare for folk going past drinking and shouting and up to no good. I can't even put out plant pots as the flowers are stolen or destroyed.

"The police had to be called a few months ago as there was a teenage girl, maybe about 14, lying on the street totally out of it."

She added: "We didn't see anything but there were dog walkers nearby at the time who may have seen folk run off."

The attacks happened in Westwood's Calgary Park and The Murray's Somerville Drive at around 8pm.

Another resident also took to social media after her mum's house was targeted about half an hour earlier.

She posted: "Some a******** about, 12 or 13, put a brick through my mum's window. If your weans are out in Somerville Drive get them home. Just to add there were four of them all wearing dark covered clothing with hoods up."

Police have been made aware of the incidents and anyone with information can contact them on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
