Ramen pizza unveiled at Pizza Hut in Taiwan

Pizza Hut

If you thought pizza was a simple dish, think again. Pizza HutTaiwan has announced it’s launching the world’s first ramen pizza, which, as the name suggests, is a hybrid between Tonkotsu ramen and pizza.

The fast-food chain has partnered with popular ramen restaurant Menya Musashi in Japan for the dish.

Tonkotsu ramen is pork bone ramen, and the pizza is topped with all of the ingredients that would usually be in it.

This includes thick ramen noodles, pork slices, bamboo shoots, cheese, white sesame, fresh chili, and a half-boiled egg.

Pizza Hut Taiwan is known for its innovative dishes, having previously launched a bubble tea pizza and a durian pizza.

The company also produced a sweet matcha pizza in March, which was topped with matcha, red bean and mochi.

Speaking to CNN, Lily Chou, the marketing director of Pizza Hut, explained that the creative dishes are all part of Taiwan’s thriving food scene, which is rooted in innovation.

“Taiwanese consumers live a high-pressure life with long working hours and high cost of living,” she said.

“The creative food scene has become an exciting and creative escape.

“Taiwanese are looking for quick moments of joy to relieve daily pressures.”

The ramen pizza will be available at Pizza Hut in Taiwan from 30 June.
