Rambler stopped on M621 trying to WALK from Leeds to Stoke-on-Trent

A man who embarked on a 70-mile walk from Leeds to Stoke-on-Trent has been picked up by police.

West Yorkshire Police's road policing team intercepted the man as he was walking on the hard shoulder of the M621.

Officers asked him where he was headed and he told them he had his sights set on Staffordshire.

According to Google, the walk from Leeds City Centre to Stoke-on-Trent would take almost 24 hours.

WYP's Road Policing Unit tweeted: "It’s a beautiful day for a walk, but our first motorway log for late turn RPU was a male who had taken this to the extreme and was walking on the hard shoulder of the M621.

"He was walking from Leeds to Stoke on Trent. Reported for the offence and removed from the network."
