A man who allegedly attempted to deliver heroin and other drugs hidden inside food delivery bags to a COVID-19 medi-hotel has appeared in court for the first time.

Police allege Raman Sharma went to an Adelaide medi-hotel, claiming he was there to deliver food to people quarantining on October 13 last year.

According to police, there were no receipts or details attached to the bags, and when the bags were searched, small amounts of heroin and other drugs were found.

The bags and drugs were seized by police.

Police say Mr Sharma was arrested the following day.

The 28-year-old from West Hindmarsh appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today charged with drug trafficking offences.

He declined to answer questions after leaving court with his lawyers.

Mr Sharma is due to appear in court again in April.
