Next month, Muslims all over the world will be marking the blessed month of Ramadan.
Held during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is observed by Muslims as a period of fasting and time for spiritual reflection.
Since the Islamic calendar is lunar, the exact date of Ramadan changes each year - getting earlier and earlier by approximately ten days.
The exact start date of Ramadan then depends on the sighting of the moon.
This year, it is expected to begin on the evening of Sunday 5 May and end on Tuesday 4 June.
Prayer is also an integral part of Ramadan and Muslims will typically carry out five daily prayers - which they are also obliged to perform throughout the year.
