When they arrived no offenders were found at the store.

From the police's initial investigations, it seems the store was ram raided by two cars.

Tesco staff are working to repair the damage so they can reopen safely.

"It is a matter of concern for the area but police is fully aware of the matter and investigating it further.

"I am also working with the council officers and Tesco store to remove temporary barriers and install a permanent metal barrier that was in place before Covid.

"Tesco is undertaking all necessary repair work that is required in order to safely open the store to serve our local community."

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called at 2am on Wednesday 22 September to a report of thieves at a store on Oldham Road, Ashton.
