Ralph Hasenhuttl - the Southampton manager - has admitted that the Saints are yet to make a decision about the prospect of signing Tottenham Hotspur loanee Kyle Walker-Peters for a second time.
The right-back joined the Saints, who played out a 1-1 draw with Everton on Thursday evening, on loan in January for the remainder of the season in the hope of securing regular first-team football.
Prior to the season being suspended in early-March because of the coronavirus pandemic, Walker-Peters had featured just once, playing 73 minutes of a 2-1 home defeat to Burnley.
But since the campaign resumed last month, the 23-year-old has come out of his shell and started to show just why Hassenhuttl took him to St Mary's back in January.
Since lockdown, the right-back has made five appearances, starting the last three matches, as the Saints have recorded 10 points from the last 15 on offer.
His classy performances have led to questions about Southampton considering the idea of trying to sign the Spurs academy graduate on a permanent basis, or perhaps a second loan deal.
However, speaking ahead of the Saints trip to Old Trafford to face an in-form Manchester United on Monday night, Hassenhuttl has issued an update on Walker-Peters' future, insisting that the club have yet to make a decision about the prospect of landing him for a second time this summer.
"I don't know, to be honest," Hassenhuttl said when asked if the Saints would look to re-sign the defender this summer. "We are definitely waiting until the end of the season is over to give decisions for every player.
"We know that we have some loan players coming back, and we know we have two loan players here, but we haven't decided yet.
"We don't want to give them the pressure to say yes or no or whatever, we want them to develop as much as possible and to show up until the last game and then we can decide if we want to have them or not."
In total this season, the right-back has made 11 appearances for Spurs and Southampton combined, including nine in the Premier League.
