Ralph Hasenhuttl gives Everton 'beautiful' praise after win against Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has described Abdoulaye Doucoure's top corner strike as a "beautiful shot".

The Everton midfielder put his side ahead in the second-half at Goodison on Saturday when he arrowed an effort past Alex McCarthy from inside the area.

Southampton had led the game through Adam Armstrong but Richarlison levelled early in the second-half before Doucoure smashed home a second for Rafa Benitez's side after 76 minutes, after collecting Alex Iwobi's headed knock-down.

"It was a beautiful shot from outside the box," said Hasenhuttl.

"I am not sure if [McCarthy] had the chance to be able to save it."

He went on to add: "It is always tough conceding such a goal from outside of the box, into the corner. I don't know if he had the chance to be able to save it."

The strike was the fourth of Doucoure's Everton career.

Hasenhuttl also said after the match: "If we analyse it, the first half was really good, nice. We couldn't hold that level in the second half.

"They [Everton] were very strong in the second half.

"An easy first goal and that pushed them, definitely. Not a good moment. We didn't really have the strength to push back. This was the reason why we lost."
