Ralph Hasenhuttl explains the only way Southampton can beat Manchester United

Ralph Hasenhuttl admits nothing less than 'perfection' will do if his Southampton side are to beat Manchester United this weekend.

The Saints have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season and go into the weekend fixtures occupying 5th place in top-flight.

Hasenhuttl's side have been one of the most consistent teams across the calendar year and drew twice with United in the league last season.

Southampton are winless in their last eight Premier League meetings with United since a 1-0 win at Old Trafford in January 2016. However, four of their last five games have ended level.

History suggests it could be another tough test on Sunday afternoon and Hasenhuttl admits his team will need to be 'perfect' if they are to have any chance of an upset.

"Simply do a perfect job," said Hasenhuttl when asked about his approach. "It sounds simple, but it's difficult to do it, because they have a strong side and they are on a good run, especially in away games, where they have a good record.

"We know it is tough, we are the underdog, but we go in this game to be as competitive as possible and to be a strong opponent and let's have a look at how many issues we can cause them and how much problems we can make for them and then we can hopefully take something."
