Ralph Hasenhuttl answers question about becoming Manchester United manager

Ralph Hasenhuttl played down the idea that he could be considered a potential Manchester United manager in the near future.

The 53-year-old has impressed as Saints boss, with his side taking their positive end to last season into the start of this campaign.

They currently sit fifth in the table, five places and four points above United, and that has led to speculation he could land a top job in English football soon.

Hasenhuttl said: "It is not something that I listen to. I don't have social media and I don't read the news.

"Sometimes I find myself sometimes listening to the radio when they speak about football, it's interesting to hear them talking about it and analysing our game.

"I am much more interested in what is happening at our club, here at the moment.

"I have signed a new contract. This is a long-term project for me and the way that we improving this club is something that gives me so much joy every day, it is so enjoyable.

"There is something special growing here at the moment and this is the reason why I decided to stay here for longer."

Hasenhuttl said his side will need to be at their best to get anything from their game against United on Sunday.

"When you see Manchester United playing in the Premier League they are good, committed, with a lot of quality," he said.

"They can always hurt you and we had that experience the last time we played them where we had a fantastic game but in two moments with not good defending we conceded goals.

"You must be very concentrated and do what we do good. We need to be better against these teams, definitely."
