Ralph Hasenhuttl aims dig at Man Utd for way they celebrated win over Southampton

Ralph Hasenhuttl claimed Manchester United "celebrated like they had won the Premier League" in the dressing room after their dramatic fight back.

Southampton boss Hasenhuttl insisted his players should take that as a compliment that United were so happy to beat his team after coming back from 2-0 down.

Hasenhuttl said: “You can hear them celebrating in their dressing room. You know what you have done today and how tough an opponent you have been because they were celebrating like they had won the Premier League.

“That was the thing for me because it is definitely a statement when they are celebrating like they were because it was tough.

Hasenhuttl opened up on the loud celebrations in the United dressing room (Clive Mason)

“They had to play the best they can to win against us and we can be proud of how we played.

"We had some fantastic moments - the best I think we can against such sides. I am very happy about what we can play today.

“For 2-2, that is okay for us, but then we conceded a third goal. We played as good as we can today.

The Saints conceded three goals in the second half but Hasenhuttl said he was "very happy" with the performance (PA)

"We put everything in that is possible against such teams but we saw a fantastic side.”

Hasenhuttl also singled out James Ward-Prowse who scored a spectacular free kick and whose corner provided the assist for Jan Bednarek's headed opener.

He added: “Not only his free-kicks but his work for the team is always good. In the end it was not enough to take something.

"This is a little bit frustrating but when you look deeper you see how many things we did today so we are not disappointed.”

Up next for Southampton is a trip to Brighton next Monday, while United return to action on Wednesday for a Champions League clash with PSG.
