Ralf Rangnick sends Christmas message to Manchester United fans before Newcastle game

Ralf Rangnick has delivered a Christmas message to Manchester United supporters ahead of their Premier League game with Newcastle United on Monday night (8pm).

Having replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Old Trafford dugout, the innovative German coach recorded victories over Crystal Palace and Norwich City - either side of watching a much-changed and youthful team draw 1-1 against Champions League opponents Young Boys.

Due to a Covid-19 outbreak, though, United have not returned to action since December 11.

Although there are pandemic-related issues across the country, Rangnick confirmed that his squad are fighting fit, once again, during his latest pre-match press conference.

However, in the season of goodwill, the 63-year-old has one clear message for United and the football community after his men suffered Premier League postponements against Brentford and Brighton.

Further disruption has been inflicted upon the elite sporting calendar for Boxing Day and beyond.

Speaking to the MUFC website, interim manager Rangnick said: "I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas together with their families. Let's hope and make sure we can still play in front of our supporters in the future.

"This also means the fans themselves stay in good health and stay safe - that would be my wish to everybody and hopefully we can see each other at upcoming home games or away games.

"I'm very much looking forward to playing in front of 75,000 at Old Trafford again. And I send all my best wishes for the New Year to everybody as well."
