Ralf Rangnick has told his players that they must have a way of dealing with the physicality of Burnley ahead of their match on Thursday.
Manchester United will be aiming to get back to winning ways at Old Trafford following on from Monday's abject 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.
Rangnick's side will need a big response against the Clarets, especially as Arsenal have now moved seven points clear of them in the final Champions League spot — although United do have two games in hand.
The German has warned his players that they can expect another tough game from a side fighting for survival in the Premier League.
“Again, this will also be a physical one," Rangnick told United's website.
"Burnley is very direct, very physical and we need to have solutions against that, both on the ball and against the ball.”
“Yes but this is Premier League football," he added when asked if it will be harder against relegation-threatened Burnley.
"Most of the teams play like that, even when I watched the games [on Boxing Day I saw that], it is physical football. We need to take that on and be able to compete on that level.”
Only David de Gea and returning goal-scorer Edinson Cavani came away from the draw at St. James' Park with any credit, but Rangnick was still able to take a positive from the match.
“We were 1-0 down at half-time and at that time, it didn’t look as if we would come back, and we came back," he explained. "Even in the end, we had the chance to win the game and that was the good thing.
"The team was showing a reaction on the pitch. But in detail, there is still a lot of work to do.”
