Ralf Rangnick left first Man Utd session with same opinion as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Anthony Elanga has now impressed both of the Manchester United senior managers he has played under since breaking into the Red Devils first-team fold.

The 19-year-old Swedish youth prospect has clearly caught the eye of new interim boss Ralf Rangnick, despite enjoying just one training session under the guidance of the former RB Leipzig coach.

Rangnick had very little time to implement his tactical philosophy since taking over the reins at Old Trafford, leading the side in training once before Sunday afternoon's home clash with Crystal Palace.

One thing the 63-year-old has already spotted is the glaring talent of Elanga, who made his first Premier League appearance of the season when Rangnick introduced him against the Eagles with little under 15 minutes to play.

Less than two minutes after he had entered the fray, United took the lead courtesy of a delightful curling effort from the boot of much-maligned defensive midfielder Fred.

Elanga's senior minutes will come of little surprise to former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was a keen admirer of the Swede's talent - so much so he opted to keep him around at the Carrington training base rather than send him out on loan in the summer.

The plan had been to find the teenage winger a new club on a temporary basis for the remainder of the season in a bid to see him return a more accomplished player.

However, Elanga's pre-season exploits were enough to convince Solskjaer to keep the Swede around the place with a view to slowly integrating him into the senior side.

Two goals in two pre-season fixtures against Queens Park Rangers and Brentford respectively were enough to spark excitement among the United faithful over Elanga's potential.

Prior to the season's beginning, Solskjaer waxed lyrical over Elanga's ability to United's official website in August, claiming: "The boy is electric, has energy and enthusiasm, he’s really enjoying himself.

"He’s done himself the world of good. We know he’s a good player, we know he’s a good lad.

"He works so hard, he’s always smiley, bright, asking what more he needs to do, he’s so hungry to improve and get better.

"He can play wide left, wide right, up front, so anywhere along the front line. He’s going to be an asset."

Rangnick has often overseen the development of a number of young stars during his respective coaching spells elsewhere and could look to transform Elanga into a fully-fledged first teamer by the time the season ends.
