Ralf Rangnick is expected to become Manchester United's new interim manager until the end of the season.
He has agreed to a six-month deal until the end of May and will have a further two years consultancy role at the club.
The agreement is also subject to a work permit, and for that reason, he will not be in charge in time for the weekend's game against Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino had been linked with a move to the club - especially after news emerged that he would be willing to cut his time at Paris Saint-Germain short in order to become the Red Devils' new manager - but United always made it clear that they wanted to sign someone on a short-term basis before appointing a more permanent manager next summer.
Pochettino couldn't guarantee that fact, and from the outside looking in, Rangnick looks like a shrewd appointment.
That much is made more apparent by his choice of words on his management style.
When Rangnick spoke on stage at the Coaches' Voice event, he explained his outlook on football management in simple terms and United supporters will love what he said: "To have a clear idea [the job of a manager] of how my team should play.
"This can be more the Pep Guardiola style or the Diego Simeone style or the Jurgen Klopp style. What they all have in common is, they exactly know which kind of football they want to play and what it looks like. They have a video of the perfect game in their minds.
"The job of a football manager is to transform this idea of football into the heads, hearts and veins of your players."
He certainly comes across as someone United fans can rally behind, and his message serves as a warning to all of his future Premier League opponents.
With the players United have available, if Rangnick can get his side believing, the rest of the league may be forced to take note.
