Ralf Rangnick confirms two Manchester United starters vs Young Boys

Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek will start for Manchester United against Young Boys in their final Champions League group stage match.

Henderson has only played once this season in the League Cup defeat to West Ham on September 22 amid David de Gea's return to form and Van de Beek has only made three starts this term.

Ajax are interested in signing Henderson, 24, who is keen to leave in the January transfer window if he does not get regular playing time in the second half of the season.

Van de Beek, also 24, was prepared to join Everton late in the summer transfer window but United refused to let the Dutchman leave. Van de Beek has been more involved for United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked and new interim manager Ralf Rangnick said he would assess all of the players before deciding on plans for the January window.

"To start with, they will both play in the first XI tomorrow," Rangnick said when asked about Henderson and Van de Beek. "And, as you saw, Donny came on as a sub last Sunday.

"I know that Dean is a very, very good, ambitious goalkeeper but we definitely need two goalkeepers. We have even three with Tom [Heaton] and with [Lee] Grant we have a fourth one. So we have four goalkeepers but we have the three goalkeepers that come into recognition for the first-team.

"I have to get to know the players first in the next couple of weeks in order to finally assess them. Right now, I am more than happy to have them all on board and I will try to give them as much game-time as possible.

"It definitely makes sense that we will rest a few players due to the crowded fixture list over the next few weeks and months. We need to make sure that we have as many recovered players as possible, also for the Premier League.

"On the other end, of course, we need to keep the positive momentum and our ethos is to win games. Even we may be playing with a few new players or fresh players, it's still important that we win the game. And, by the way, the first game in this group we lost at Young Boys.

"And so we still need to make up for that and it's clear, no matter which kind of players we will start tomorrow, we definitely want to win the game.''

Nemanja Matic joined Rangnick for the pre-match press conference, which would indicate he will also start against Young Boys.
