JAIPUR: The state BJP is preparing to house its MLAs at a five-star hotel on the outskirts of Jaipur from Monday evening till the time the Rajya Sabha polls are held on Friday. The aim of the exercise is to train the legislators on how to cast their votes in the polls.
Senior BJP leaders have asked all the 71 MLAs of the party to report at the BJP state headquarters on Monday afternoon. “The MLAs have been asked to pack their bags and carry their essentials for at least three to four days. They have been asked not to expect any leave or any break till the polling day,” said a BJP leader on the condition of anonymity.
The saffron party has also extended an invitation to all non-BJP leaders to join the “training camp” at the hotel. The party is keen to secure the victory of its candidate Ghanshyam Tiwari and independent candidate Subhash Chandra who it backs. BJP’s Rajya Sabha poll in-charge Narendra Singh Tomar and its national in-charge Arun Singh are likely to join the camp on Wednesday.
“Exemptions are granted to those MLA who are seriously ill or hospitalised. Everyone else has been asked not to miss the deadline. The party has advised the MLAs not to speak to the media or to issue any statement related to the Rajya Sabha polls,” said the BJP leader.
Sources said the party has formed a monitoring committee to ensure the MLAs get all kinds of assistance in the resort and that their activities are monitored.
During the three days, several senior BJP leaders from Delhi are expected to come to the hotel and deliver lectures on the party's ideology and philosophy. Special arrangements have reportedly been made for non-BJP MLAs and MLAs from smaller parties like RLP and BTP in the same resort.
