Rajya Sabha Poll: Akhilesh Yadav hits BJP for pressure on MLAs prior to election in UP

Etawah: A day before the Rajya Sabha election for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has slammed BJP to resort to undue pressure to influence some MLAs for cross-voting. 

The tomorrow's election may witness an electoral drama with the BJP fielding eight candidates and the opposition Samajwadi Party three for the 10 seats.

The ruling BJP and the principal opposition SP have the numbers to send 7and 3 members respectively unopposed to the Rajya Sabha, but with the BJP fielding Sanjay Seth as its eighth candidate, a keen contest is on the cards in one of the seats.

However SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has asserted that the MLAs would vote as per their wish and any kind of pressure will not deviate them.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party has asked all its MLAs to stay in Lucknow till the voting for Rajya Sabha elections. In the meeting held at the Party Headquarters on Sunday evening, Akhilesh Yadav explained about voting to all the MLAs and also informed them about the numerical strength. The MLAs were also advised to vote as per the Party's decided strategy without coming under any pressure from anybody, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
