Rajon Rondo still feels at home in Boston

The Boston Celtics were on the wrong end of a surprising 129-128 finish in a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday thanks to an old friend: Rajon Rondo. The former Boston Celtics point guard did what he typically did back when he wore green, log a double-double, scoring 17 points to go with his 10 assists. (He also has seven rebounds.)

However, the most surprising part of Rondo’s performance wasn’t his stat line. It was the fact he scored the game-winning shot.

And it came off a jumper, no less. Not exactly his calling card.

Rajon Rondo spoke with TNT following the win, expressing how unique the feeling was.

“Believe it or not, I always dream like this,” Rondo said. “But I couldn’t picture it being this sweet. Coming back home, 13 years in. Where it all started.”

Notice, Rondo still calls Boston home. He doubled down on that when asked what he first thinks of when he walks into the TD Garden.

“Home,” he said on TNT. “Where it all started. Danny (Ainge) believed in me from Day One and my career probably wouldn’t be the same if I went anywhere else.”
