The Los Angeles Lakers have completely remade their backcourt ahead of next season’s title defense but they officially received word that their squad will lose a considerable amount of playoff execution and high-level basketball IQ this offseason.
Lakers free agent point guard Rajon Rondo, who was excellent for the Lakers from the second round of the playoffs all the way through raising the Larry O’Brien trophy, has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks worth $15 million, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic/Stadium. Rondo will help the Hawks as they look to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Rondo’s play throughout the regular season was often maddening to Lakers fans, but he once again showed an ability to raise his level of play and execution in the postseason. He was instrumental in helping them beat the Houston Rockets in the 2nd round and he was also excellent in the NBA Finals, helping the Lakers win their 17th NBA Championship.
