Rajinikanth to watch India-Australia 1st ODI on MCA special invitation

MUMBAI: There was extra star power for the India-Australia match as Thalaivar is at the Wankhede. Rajinikanth, arguably the biggest superstar from South, has flown from down south to the city for the first One-Day International between India and Australia.

On a special invite from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale, Rajinikanth, reverently called in Tamil Nadu as Thalaivar, is expected to sit through the game on Friday. He was received by Kale and other office-bearers of the association.

"We're happy that Mr Rajinikanth has accepted my invite. He is a busy man and agreeing to spend the day with us is a big thing. We're really grateful for his visit," Kale, who enjoys a special bond with the film star, told TOI. The superstar was accompanied by his wife Latha.

"It is a privilege to have them amongst us today. I am sure the game at Wankhede today will get more exciting with his presence," Kale added. Rajinikanth is a known cricket buff but he hardly visits matches at the ground.
