Rajasthan U-23 boys crush UP by 49 runs

JAIPUR: Yet again, Rajasthan turned up with an all-round performance to bring their fourth consecutive win after defeating Uttar Pradesh by 49 runs in a Group C match of the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy in Chandigarh. The top-order including Sumit Godara (68 off 84 balls) and Anshul Garhwal (76 off 79 balls), laid a solid foundation for Rajasthan.

Later it was Karan Lamba's unbeaten 61-ball 87 (12 fours, 1 six) that helped the team post a massive 303/7 in 50 overs. Having decided to bowl first, UP bowlers first struggled to break the 103-run partnership between Sumit and Anshul and then failed to stop Karan in his strides.

Later, UP had a horror start as they lost their first three batters within four overs as the scoreline read 21/3. Their middle-order showed great fight with important contributions coming from Sameer Rizvi (91 off 65 balls), Siddharth Yadav (57 not out off 42 balls) and Swastik (47 off 39 balls). But once Sameer and Swastik were back to the pavilion, Siddharth ran out of partners. UP capitulated at 254/10 in 39.5 overs.

Brief score: Rajasthan 303/7 in 50 overs (Sumit Godara 68, Anshul Garhwal 76, Karan Lamba 87 not out; Swastik 2-26) beat UP 254/10 in 39.5 overs (Sameer Rizvi 91, Siddharth Yadav 57 not out, Swastik 47; Salaudeen 3-49, Mahendra Mahala 3-49, Manav Suthar 3-46)
