JAIPUR: A joint team of the anti corruption bureau (ACB) from Alwar and Kota busted a racket and arrested seven people, including a transport inspector, three middlemen and others, posted at the Shahjahanpur tax collection centre.
ACB stated that a case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged against the accused. ACB director general BL Soni stated that various ACB teams had kept the accused, identified as Ravindra Singh Bhati, the transport inspector, and three middlemen Ravindra Singh Chauhan, Leelaram and Gajendra Singh, under surveillance.
“It was found that they were illegally taking money from various truck drivers. After receiving information, the ACB team decided to raid the office on Sunday,” Soni said.
ACB sleuths recover Rs 2.9L from accused
Jaipur : ACB sleuths recovered Rs 2.9 lakh from the accused along with details related to illegal collection.
The team also seized Rs 8.85 lakh from the residence of a middleman, Soni said.
“They had kept a daily register of the money they took and money pending from trucks passing through the area. Our teams have seized various records from their offices and further investigations are on,” said a senior ACB officer from Alwar.
“Others arrested in the case have been identified as Vikram Singh, Lokesh and Kailash,” the officer added.
Till late in the evening, ACB teams were conducting searches at the residential premises of the accused.
“We will dig deep into the corruption racket,” said an officer.
