Rajasthan: Sand storm ‘buries’ roads in Jaisalmer, traffic affected

JAISALMER: Due to the sand storm continuing for the last 3-4 days in Jaisalmer district, heaps of sand have accumulated on border roads hitting the movement of vehicles.

A 108 ambulance got caught in the sand in the Myazlar area on Thursday evening. The ambulance was on its way to pick up a pregnant woman.

At different places in Mohangarh, Sutharwala Mandi, PTM Chauraha, sand has collected on over 30km of road. Many vehicles get caught in the sand.

No administrative initiative has been taken to remove the sand so people are doing it at their level.

Lalu Singh Sodha, a resident of Karda, Pochina, said that on Thursday evening a 108 ambulance was going to pick up a pregnant woman from Pochina village when it got caught in sand on the road. With the help of villagers, the ambulance was pulled out from the sand by the tractors. The ambulance reached to pick the woman an hour late.
