Rajasthan: Robbers loot jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh in Barmer

JAISALMER: Two thieves on Wednesday night took away a packet of 30 tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh from a woman who had kept it beside her while sleeping on the terrace of her house at Bandi Dhora Panavada in Barmer district.

Barmer additional SP Narpat Singh said that Radha Devi,a resident of Bandi dhora Panavada gave a report saying that on Wednesday night she was sleeping on the terrace of her house. There was no other house nearby and she had come to the village in summer vacation so that she could get the work of her house completed. Two days ago in the night two suspicious unidentified persons on bike were roaming near her house, so fearing that her jewellery would be stolen, she kept it near her, added Singh.

Baytoo police said, the masked robbers did not break the door or the almirah but directly went to the terrace and scared her with an axe before stealing the jewellery. The complainant said that she changed the robbers for around half a kilometre but both took away the bike and fled.
