JAIPUR: Long serpentine queues for Covid vaccination in Jaipur indicates the craze of people to get a jab. The number of vaccinations in Jaipur, including urban and rural areas, has gone up to to 40.4 lakh, the highest in the state. Out of those, 29,91,925 are first doses and 10,47,650 second.
While, Rajasthan is one of the five states in the country leading in Covid vaccination, cases have gone down significantly. Six persons tested positive in the state on Tuesday, taking the overall tally to 9,53,960. With no deaths reported, the state’s toll stood at 8,954.
Districts which reported new cases are Jaipur (2) and one case each was reported from Alwar, Sriganganagar, Jodhpur and Nagaur.
The health department is focusing on vaccination while the Covid cases have touched record low in more than a year.
Jodhpur is at the second spot in highest vaccinations, where more than 21 lakh jabs have been administered. Alwar and Nagaur are at third and fourth places in the list with around 20 lakh doses being given so far. Ajmer is at the fifth spot with more than 19.3 lakh doses.
A senior health department official said vaccination will help averting the third wave in the current scenario.
