Rajasthan man loses Rs 50,000 in auto enroute to hospital in Chennai

CHENNAI: A man lost Rs 50,000 to an unidentified duo in an autorickshaw that he took to reach the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital on Monday evening.

The victim Narayana Ram, 47 from Rajasthan, was employed in Andhra Pradesh and was going to see his friend Sanjith who was admitted at KMCH since August 30. Ram was the sole caretaker of Sanjith at the hospital, and had borrowed Rs 50,000 from the patient’s brother for the expenses.

Shankar, the patient’s brother handed him the cash at Koyambedu bus terminus. Ram then decided to take an autorickshaw as he thought it would be safer for him to travel with the money.

When the vehicle left the bus stop, the auto driver allowed another man to get in. The driver told Ram that the other passenger had to reach the hospital urgently.

It was only when Ram reached the hospital and checked his wallet when he found that the cash was missing. Based on his complaint, Koyambedu police have filed a case against the driver and his aide.
