Rajasthan man gives new lease of life to three

JAIPUR: Organs harvested from a 40-year-old person, who was declared brain dead at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital in Jaipur, gave a new lease of life to three persons as his kidneys were transplanted to needy patients at SMS hospital, while his liver was transported to Delhi’s Apollo Hospital by creating a green corridor.

It was the 44th cadaveric organ donation of the state and 23rd of SMS hospital.

SMS hospital officials said the donor was a resident of Sarnon Ki Dhani of Malsisar of Jhunjhunu district, who had suffered serious head injury at his house when he slipped on the floor on April 12. His relatives took him first to hospital in Nawalgarh, but he was shifted to SMS hospital later. The doctors and transplant coordinators encouraged the family members to donate his organs.
