Rajasthan: Gang uses women as bait to loot vehicle on highway, 6 held

AJMER: A gang of six people, including three women from Indore, was apprehended by Bhilwara police on Wednesday for looting car owners on highway.

The accused are Rohit, 32, Atish, 28, Shanker Pradhan, 25, Lata, 30, Nisha alias Nitu, 29, and Shashikala, 27, all from Indore of Madhya Pradesh.

According to police, thousands of devotees are visiting Bhilwara to pay obeisance to a Jain religious guru who has camped here for some days. Looking at the number of devotees, the gang members hatched a plan to loot vehicles on the highway. The women gang members seek lift from vehicle owners on the highway. When some vehicle owner stops, the male members of the gang attack the owner and loot him.

On information, Kotwali police reached the spot and arrested all six accused. Police said only one case of loot by the gang has come to light, but they are looking for other victims who have not come to police to report such matters.

They also recovered rope, knife and sticks from the possession of male members.

Police claimed that during interrogation the gang members admitted to have committed similar crimes on different roads to escape police.
