JAISALMER: A couple committed suicide by jumping into a water tank in a field under Bhaniyana police station area of Jaisalmer.
Both were cousins. The boy was 22 years old while the girl was a minor. They were missing for the last 3-4 days from their house.
Police have lodged a case and begun investigation.
The bodies were handed over to family members after postmortem.
Bhaniyana SHO K R Godara said that police got information that two bodies were floating in a water tank in a field in Dudhia village area on Friday.
Police reached the spot and took out the bodies with the help of villagers.
The deceased were identified as Mansoor Khan (22), a resident of Gundala, and Hafido (16), a resident of Jaloda Pokarna. The bodies were 2-3 days old.
“Both were in love and were missing from their homes for the last 3-4 days. Their relatives were searching for them on their own and police was not informed. The deceased are said to be close relatives. No report has been lodged from both sides. Police are investigating the case and further action will be taken after the report,” the SHO said.
