Rajasthan: Congress slams Centre for hike in LPG cylinder price again

JAIPUR: The Congress leaders on Wednesday decried the decision of the Modi government to hike the prices of LPG cylinders again.

"Modi government had increased the price of gas cylinder by Rs 50 in 15 days. In 2014, during the Congress government, the cylinder was Rs 400, which has become near Rs 900 today. The prices of food items and petrol and diesel is on fire. The BJP is trying to fill the treasury of the capitalists by cutting the pockets of the people.#IndiaAganistBJPLoot, tweeted state party chief Govind Singh Dotasra.

Transport minister Pratap Singh Kachariyawas in a statement said the decision of the central government to make another hike of Rs 25 for domestic LPG cylinder and Rs 75 for commercial cylinders is beyond comprehension. He said with the latest hike a domestic cylinder will cost Rs 888. He alleged that the BJP leaders have become deaf as they could not hear the screams of the people reeling under price rise and inflation. He said now price of petrol and LPG has gone beyond the tolerance level. He said the central government had collected over 22 lakh crore from petrol price hike.

He said the Centre had increased the prices of LPG even during Corona pandemic and it had to give its account of how the money collected have been used. He said the government abolished subsidy on petroleum products and made it to markets prices.
