JAIPUR: The BJP state unit has prepared a list of elected representatives and key position holders who couldn’t turn up at the protest seeking CBI probe into the REET scam on Tuesday.
The party has identified Malviya Nagar MLA Kalicharan Saraf, Shahpura MLA Kailash Meghwal, and Chabbra MLA Pratap Singh Singhvi for missing the protest march. The party will seek an explanation from them.
Former CM Vasundhara Raje’s didn’t attend the protest due to her scheduled visit to Delhi. "The senior party leaders were aware of her trip due to a personal reason. The protest was initially planned for February 10 and it was postponed to February 15 leaving no scope for changing the planned trip," added Raje's office. Of 71 MLAs, 67 were present in the protest, cited a BJP official statement.
In his defence, Singhvi said due to a medical emergency of the person from his constituency he was not able to attend the protest. "I present at the assembly seeking CBI probe with my colleagues. One of the villagers from the constituency was admitted to a private hospital due to an emergency. Since he was from my constituency, I had to rush to the hospital to assist him," said Singhvi.
Former cabinet minister Kalicharan Saraf said he was busy at a family wedding is a reason he couldn’t join his colleagues. A senior leader said the party’s national in-charge Arun Singh had held a virtual meeting with all 71 MLAs on February 13 asked them to attend the same.
"Even phone calls were made to all elected representatives reminding them to come," said a BJP source.
