JAIPUR: The demolition of temples, one of which was reportedly a 300-year-old shrine, at Rajgarh in Alwar on Friday has sparked off a political slugfest in the state.
On Saturday, a BJP fact-finding team held the Congress government responsible for bulldozing the Shiva temple at Rajgarh, while Congress leaders accused the saffron party for the demolition.
Sikar MP Sumedhanand Saraswati held district magistrate Shivprasad Nakate responsible for the ‘criminal’ act that hurt the sentiments of Hindus at the behest of the Congress government.
The team, which visited the site on Saturday morning, faced the ire of locals who complained that the Rajgarh BJP civic board had carried out the demolition drive without following rules.
During the day, Saraswati held a meeting with Rajgarh municipality chairman Satish Guria, who is under the scanner for passing the order to demolish the temple.
