Rajasthan: 5 kids, including 2 siblings, drown in Sriganganagar

BIKANER: Five children, including two siblings, died by drowning in a farm pond in Udasar village of Sriganganagar district on Sunday. Among the five victims three were boys and two girls, said Anupgarh circle DSP Jaidev Siyag.

The two siblings who died were Rajesh (10) and Bhawna (12). They drowned in the pond which was filled with canal water for irrigation. The other deceased were identified as Nisha (13), Ashish (10) and Ankit (10).

Ramsinghpur police station SHO Daularam said that the children were playing and went to the pond for swimming. Though nearby farmers rushed to the pond to save them, all the five unfortunately drowned and died.

CM expresses condolences over incident

A pall of gloom hung over the village following the death of children due to drowning. People's representatives, including MLA Santosh Bawri, zila pramukh Kuldip Indora, SDM Priyanka Talania, along with police officials reached the spot.

According to police, the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted at Ramsinghpur PHC and the bodies handed over to their respective families. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his condolences on the death of five children. "The death of five children due to drowning in Udasar village is extremely heart-rending and unfortunate. My deep sympathies with father- mother and relatives of the children. God give them strength during this extremely difficult time," Gehlot tweeted.
