ALWAR: Three policemen including an assistant sub-inspector were kept hostage and thrashed allegedly by people involved in manufacturing and smuggling of liquor at Sukol village under Malakhera police station area on Tuesday.
They also accused the cops of eveteasing and outraging the modesty of women in their village when they entered. Police have registered a case and have initiated investigations.
According to police, ASI Manoj posted at Akbarpur police outpost under Malakhera police station area along with two constables, Indraj and Suresh, were at Sukol village for an investigation of a missing complaint. "When they entered the village, they got a tip off that some people are involved in illegal manufacturing of countrymade liquor. When they reached the manufacturing unit, they were surrounded by hundreds of villagers who kept them hostage for an hour and thrashed," said a senior police officer.
In the FIR, the injured policemen said the villagers had firearms, batons and weapons. "They alleged when they were kept hostage and beaten, the liquor smugglers called women of their village and asked them to sit close to the policemen. Thereafter, they videographed it," the officer added.
The three policemen later raised an alarm and more cops arrived at the spot. "All the three injured policemen were sent to the government hospital in Alwar and their medical examination was done," the officer added. In an another turn of events, the women of Sukol village reached at SPs office and accused the three policemen of outraging their modesty.
