BIKANER: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons in connection with the attack on Rural Congress Committee Nokha chief Megh Singh. The trio has been identified as Hari Singh, Gulab Singh and Rajkumar alias Chotia.
"Police have also recovered the vehicle used in the attack," Ishwar Jangid, SHO, Nokha police station, said.
Police have identified other accused including police constable Prithviraj Bishnoi but they still remain at large.
"The police teams are continuously raiding their hideouts," Jangid said.
Singh, president of Congress Nokha block, was attacked near Himatsar village bus stand on Bikaner-Jodhpur NH-11 on Thursday evening when he along with his family was returning to his home after visiting Deshnok Karni temple in his car. The goons stepped out of an SUV and dragged Bhati out of his car and beat him with sticks.
Meanwhile, Megh Singh has been referred to a higher center in Jaipur on the request of his family members from PBM Hospital of Bikaner. Police have registered an FIR based on the statement of Megh Singh against 13 identified attackers and others.
Circle officer of Nokha police circle Nem Singh told TOI that this attack was prima facie a result of political rivalry between two groups in the village and may have some links to the internal feud among the family of Megh Singh.
However, the police have identified the accused involved in the attack and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.
