JAIPUR: A 47-year-old man died of Covid in Barmer on Wednesday, the third death in the past three days. With this casualty, the state fatality count rose to 8,959.
On December 13, the state had reported two Covid deaths in Churu and Rajsamand. Since July 31, the state has reported five deaths with four casualties in December alone.
“The hometown of the 47-year-old person who died of Covid is Barmer, but he was living in Jodhpur. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Jodhpur. He had a history of visiting Bangalore. He remained admitted to AIIMS hospital for six days. He had fallen ill on December 6,” said a health department official in Barmer.
The state reported 20 new Covid infections on Wednesday, taking the overall tally to 9,55,147. Four persons were found infected in Udaipur, three each in Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ajmer, and two each in Alwar, Dausa, Jaipur and one case was reported from Jhunjhunu.
A health department official said they are focussing on five-fold strategy — test-tracktreatment-vaccination and Covid appropriate behaviour to deal with the pandemic.
