Raj Kundra sent to Police Custody till July 23 in pornography-related case

Raj Kundra was arrested late on Monday in a pornography-related case and was produced before the Esplanade Court on Tuesday afternoon. The businessman has been sent to judicial custody till July 23, along with Ryan Tharp, who was arrested from the Nerul area on Tuesday morning.

Soon after his arrest on Monday, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale had confirmed in a statement, "There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this." He was then sent to JJ hospital by the Property Cell of Mumbai Police's Crime Branch.

Ever since he was arrested, Raj Kundra has been trending on social media. His Twitter post from 2012 about 'porn vs prostitution' is going viral on social media. In his post, Raj had questioned why it was legal to pay someone for sex on camera, asking how prostitution was different from porn. He had written, "Ok so here go's Porn Vs Prostitution. Why is it legal to pay someone for sex on camera? How is one different to the other??" Raj Kundra is also being trolled for his Twitter bio that reads, 'Life is about making the right choices'.

Actress Gehana Vasisth, who is out on bail in connection to the same case, also reacted to Raj Kundra’s controversial arrest. Her publicist issued a statement post Raj Kundra’s arrest that read, “The law will take its course. We have full faith in Mumbai police, but they should not mix up porn with erotica or bold content. We have always said that Mumbai police is the best force in the world. The courts will eventually decide during trial as to who are the real culprits and which of the arrested accused were merely used, by others. We don't want to comment any more, as Gehana is on bail in the same cases and she does not want to prejudice or impair her right to her personal defence. However, police should investigate fully as there are many more skeletons in the cupboards of the rich and famous."
