Raith Rovers want ex-Dundee United star as Falkirk monitor Clyde's key man

Clyde are set to face a battle to keep top scorer and captain David Goodwillie at the club, with Raith Rovers keen on signing him.

The 32-year-old has been at Clyde for four years and has proven a key figure for Danny Lennon's League One side, scoring 94 times in 147 appearances.

He's netted 16 times already this season and former club Raith Rovers have taken notice of his prolific form.

Goodwillie spent time on loan at Raith from Dundee United earlier in his career, and it was current Kirkcaldy boss John McGlynn who managed him in that spell.

McGlynn wants the former Tannadice striker to help spearhead his team's Premiership promotion push, according to the Daily Express, but he's resisted a return to full-time football before.

Clyde's League One rivals Falkirk are also believed to be monitoring the situation closely and rumours circulated last season that the Bairns were interested in Goodwillie, although nothing came to fruition.

Goodwillie has been capped by Scotland and won the Scottish Cup with Dundee United in 2010, his form in Tayside earning him a big move to Blackburn Rovers.

He joined Clyde in 2017 after a spell with Plymouth Argyle.
