Raith Rovers have beaten Hamilton Accies twice and we want to fix that, says keeper

Ryan Fulton says Hamilton Accies haven’t turned up against Raith Rovers this season, and aim to put that right today.

Accies host sixth-placed Rovers this afternoon as the Kirkcaldy side first-foot them, having taken all six points from them this season.

Ian Murray’s side ran out 2-0 winners back in August, and 3-1 at Stark’s Park on November 5.

Fulton reckons Accies can kick-start a revival of fortunes by beating the Fifers, and by doing so, they can potentially come off the bottom of the Championship table.

“I think both times against Raith Rovers we haven’t turned up against them,” he said, “so we definitely want to put that right.

“It will be a tough game, but we need to get the points and that’s all we’re looking at.

“It’s the start of a new year, it’s in front of our own fans, and we want to get it off to a good start.

“There’s no better opportunity than in the next game, so hopefully we can do that.”

Hamilton’s season doesn’t make for pleasant reading so far, with just two wins from 18 league games, the last of which came at Inverness on October 18.

A team finishing bottom of the table at the end of a year rarely makes enough of an impact in the next, and pundits will have Accies as odds-on favourites for a drop into League One, but Fulton says that’s not a concern for the players.

He explained: "We’ve not looked at that. We’re just focused on what we need to do, and how we get out of the situation – but we will use that as fire to keep going.”

Fulton was annoyed as Accies lost 2-0 at Cove Rangers last Friday, despite making a relatively positive start to the game.

But he says it’s a similar story from many games this season.

“It was frustrating,” he said, “but if you don’t put the ball in the back of the net you’re always going to be under pressure.

“There are times when we concede a goal that we concede two or three, and we need to get that out of our game.

“It’s not a learning curve, because we’ve been here before, but we need to put that to bed and move on.

“It’s a new year, a new start, and we can’t look behind us now, we have to look forward at what we’ve got in front of us.”
