Raise a glass! Pints and cocktails lifted to a top Glassford Beer and Gin Festival

The second Glassford Beer And Gin Festival went off in spectacular style at the weekend.

And there was a very specific tipple used to toast the occasion, with the village’s own gin providing the tonic.

The day was a fantastic occasion and great chance to celebrate some of the best craft beer and cider producers Scotland has to offer, as well as some fine artisan food producers.

Strathaven now has it's own gin as small-batch producer set up in Avondale farmhouse

Around 600 crammed into the Village Hall and Steayban restaurant, with Jackson Street in the village shut down for the occasion – and that ensured a great party atmosphere.

Following the event, organisers took to social media to thank everyone for making the day a success. They posted on Facebook: “We would like to thank everyone who came yesterday and made it a fantastic day.

“Every event we have had has attracted a great bunch of people who are out to have a good time.

“Hopefully we will see some of you come to our next event which on April 27.”

Gin producers and local residents, Colin and Jess McLean – who run Strathaven now has it's own gin as small-batch producer set up in Avondale farmhouse – produced a limited release liquor for the day. They created a gooseberry and elderflower tipple for the event, using produce from the nearby Harris Farm shop, and working with local artist Mhairi Anderson to design a label.

And it was a sure-fire hit on the day, as was the event.

Our photographer Stuart Vance had the challenging job of covering the event – he apologises if any of the pictures are out of focus!
