Rains expected in many parts of Japan over Golden Week

Vacationers will need to have their umbrellas handy during the 10-day Golden Week holiday period, as rain is forecast to occur every few days in many parts of the country.

Large swings in temperature will also take place, requiring care to be taken in selecting clothes and managing physical health, weather service provider Weathernews Inc. said on Friday.

The weather will be affected by low pressure and cold air, and few places will enjoy sustained fair weather. However, even if conditions worsen, the possibility of extreme rains is forecast to be low.

"Sudden thunderstorms are expected because the atmosphere will be unstable. If you go climbing or camping, be sure to get the latest forecast and keep an eye on cloud movement," said Weathernews.
