Four women and a teenage girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in a street disturbance in east London.

Police were called to a group “disturbance” in Louise Gardens, Rainham, shortly before 8pm on Wednesday.

Along with paramedics, they found a 37-year-old man unresponsive and despite medics’ efforts, he later died of his injuries at the scene.

A crime scene remains in place while homicide detectives work out what happened.

The victim is yet to be identified by officers and work is ongoing to inform his next-of-kin.

A woman was also found with an injury to her wrist, said police. She was taken to hospital and her condition has been assessed as non life-threatening.

Four women, aged between 48 and 21, and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.
